Kishkushim was founded on March 24, 2006 by Amos. It features reporting and analysis on Israel, the Middle East, and the Jewish world. The Hebrew name of this blog literally means "scribblings" or "nonsense," which expressed the founders' irritation at some current academic writing and media reporting about Israel and the Middle East. The Arabic name of the blog is kharbataat which has the same meaning as the Hebrew title. Since the blog's inception, J., Carmia, Noah K, and Noah S. have joined the team of contributors.
Carmia resides in Haifa, from where she documented the effects of Hizbullah's missile attacks on the city during the war in the summer of 2006. The two Noahs, friends of the founders, both live in the Bay Area. J., who officially retired from blogging on April 24, 2007, is based in Canada, where he returned in 2006 after a 3-year stay in southern Israel. Amos resides in Berkeley, California.
